19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from March of 2023.
Success also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.
The player's defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to force a final set.
He defended 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
