Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the state, generating strong winds topping over 100 km/h.

Large Ice Stones and Extensive Impact

Locals observed giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Storm Challenges

Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.

State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mainly for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

• Hoppers Crossing - numerous rescue reports
• Wyndham area - nearly 180 calls for assistance

At one point on Sunday, over 28,000 power users in the state were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along large portions of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a atmospheric system continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across various areas of both states.

Medical Alert

Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
